Saturday, February 11, 2017 was the 159th anniversary of Mary’s first appearance to Bernadette in Lourdes, France. It was also the first day that the water of Lourdes was brought to St. Bernadette Church in Westlake, OH.
When the Blessed Mother Mary appeared to Bernadette in Lourdes, France, in 1858, she stood on a rock. There is currently a statue of Mary on that very spot. Some rock was chiseled out in order for the statue to fit properly. The removed pieces of rock were sent to Marian shrines around the world. The idea being, an individual did not need to travel all the way to Lourdes, France, to receive the physical and spiritual blessings of the water.
When water runs over these blessed rocks, the water becomes the water of Lourdes. It is not ‘like’ the water at Lourdes. It IS the water of Lourdes. It has all the special graces that Mary bestowed in Lourdes, France.
Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine in Euclid, Ohio, was one of the selected shrines. The documented and undocumented miracle healings have become legendary in both Lourdes and locally. And, now, water from the Shrine is available at St. Bernadette Church.
We encourage all to visit Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine in Euclid, OH. We thank the Sisters of the Most Holy Trinity for sharing the special blessings.
